Sweet And Sour Meatballs


BT's Sweet and Sour Meatballs For A Party


Ingredients:

Meatballs:

4 pounds (1.8 kilos) ground beef

2 cups (255 grams) bread crumbs

1 cup (250 ml) water

4 teaspoons salt

1 onion, grated

6 cloves garlic

Sauce:

1 14 oz.( 320 ml) tin tomato sauce

2 5 1/2 oz. tins (165 ml) tomato paste

2 cups (473 ml) water

3/4 cup (177 ml) lemon juice

1 3/4 (371 grams) cup brown sugar

salt


Directions:

Preheat oven to 450 F. (220 C.)

Mix ground beef with half of the breadcrumbs, garlic, water, onion and salt

Roll meat into 2 inch (5 cm) round balls

Place rest of bread crumbs into a bowl

Coat each meatball and place on cookie sheet lined with parchment papers

Bake the meatballs 10 to 15 minutes - until they just begin to sizzle

Remove from oven and reserve

In a large sauce pot, mix all the sauce ingredients. Bring to a boil and let simmer for 10 minutes. Add meatballs, stir and simmer 10 minutes or more. Adjust for sugar and lemon juice.


Recipe makes 48 meatballs.
