BT's Version of Mom's Apple Cake

My mother's recipe cards always have a short added note - "my recipe" or "recipe from ...". It makes the dish so much more personal and also follows the tradition that recipes are to be shared and their provenance acknowledged.

This recipe is a adaptation of my mother's famous Apple Cake. I say famous because everyone who has ever tasted it, has gone on to sing its praises. It was a standard in our house when I was a child and remains a standard at family gatherings whenever they are possible.
