Matzoh Balls

The recipe for matzoh balls is on the pack of every box of Matzoh Meal. But just to complete the story, I have included it here.



BT's Kneidlach - Matzoh Balls


Ingredients:

1 cup (128 grams) matzoh meal (matzoh flour)

4 eggs

4 tablespoons water or soup stock

4 tablespoon vegetable oil or schmaltz (chicken fat)

1 teaspoon kosher salt

1 tablespoon kosher salt for water


Mix together matzoh meal and salt

In a separate bowl combine eggs, stock and fat. Whisk until yolks are incorporated

Pour wet ingredients into dry and stir until totally combined

Place bowl in refrigerator for 30 minutes

While batter is in fridge, fill large pot with cold water and salt

Bring to a boil

Remove the batter from fridge

Roll balls and drop immediately into boiling water

Cover tightly with a lid and reduce heat to low

Do not peek

The balls should cook for about 12 minute before checking

f they are all floating at the top, they are ready

Using a slotted spoon, remove them from the water and add to soup
